Executive Director Job Post

CYT Vancouver/Portland is looking for a full time Executive Director. The job posting can be found at this link:

Vancouver East Class Parking

The back parking lot at Lifepoint is now open enough for parents to park as the construction modules are now all gone. This is a great drop off and pick up location. Upon entering kids can go straight to the gym to spend time with their friends before classes begin!

We will be manning the front door tonight as well as families transition to using the lot in the back.

Also, the bathrooms we are authorized to used, and that makes our clean up at the end of classes much easier, are the bathrooms in the kids wing (hallway closest to the back door) and across from the gym.

After classes, kids will be supervised at the back door as you drive in to pick them up. Our Gang parents must park and come to the Our Gang class room for pick up.

We Need Your Help...

Dear CYT supporters,

We have an excellent opportunity to secure all of our wireless microphone needs for the season but we need your help. Thanks to the generosity of 11 committed CYT supporters, we have 11 committed mics pledged so far, we just need another 7 pledges of $1000 or $85 per month to reach our goal and our Feb 1 ordering deadline. We currently have only one complete system to meet the needs of 13 shows annually. CYT is in desperate need of a 2nd updated system to meet the needs of our expanding program into Beaverton and to meet the needs of more challenging technical shows like The Hobbit and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well as our spring shows and summer CCT production, Joseph! Originally we needed 20 pledges but we have been able to whittle the pricing down so that only $7,000 more is needed.

Now is a great time to give to the ministry of CYT. I encourage you to ask friends, family and also check into your companies matching funds policies, you may be able to donate $500 and have them match the other $500.
Please email me at justin1118@att.net or call 815-814-4349 by Feb 1 to secure your name on our Mic Campaign Office Plaque and make a huge difference in our ministry and the quality of our sound systems.
Blessings,
Justin Parks

Weather

Classes may be cancelled in the case of dangerous driving weather. The weather forecast and actual conditions will be watched carefully. If classes are cancelled, there will be a post on this blog a few hours before classes begin. Be sure and check the blog before leaving for classes.

Building Entry for Classes

At our parent meeting I announced that entry for classes on Tuesday will be from the doors on the south side of the building. I did not take note of the changes in the parking lot since the construction of Costco next door!

Entry this session will be through the front doors of the church. Parents needing to park will also use the front parking lot. I will be outside there tonight to direct parents.

Vancouver East Auditions for The Hobbit

The Hobbit
AUDITIONS
Cascade Park Baptist Church
1201 SE 136th Street,
Vancouver
Monday, January 3rd
3:00-6:00pm

To audition, students must be between 8 and 18 years old and currently enrolled in a Vancouver or Vancouver East class.

What Do I Bring To Auditions?
• A completed and signed Audition Form
• A completed and signed Costume Form
• A completed and signed Parent Committee Form
• An instrumental only, cued accompaniment track (like Karaoke) for your one minute song.
(We will not be providing an accompanist. If you plan to use sheet music you must also bring your own accompanist.)
* A current photo

If you do not have a photograph, bring $2 and we will take one for you at auditions.

Registration for your audition is simple. To secure a spot for your audition, simply arrive at the audition location between the times designated for the particular show you’d like to audition for. For example, if your auditions are held between 3:00 and 6:00 pm and you sign in between those times, you are guaranteed an audition slot. If, however, you arrive at 6:01 pm, you will not be allowed to audition.

Upon submitting all the appropriate materials (see What Do I Bring To Auditions?) at audition registration, auditioners are assigned a number. Auditions then take place in groups of 10. For example, numbers 1-10 sit in their designated spots in the audition room. After this group is seated, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the room while the group of ten is performing their individual auditions. This helps to keep unnecessary distractions to a minimum during the auditions. After the group of ten completes their individual auditions, the doors will open up and audience members will be able to come and go as they wish. Then the next group of auditioners are called to be seated and the process repeats. This continues until all who have registered to audition have performed.

In order to make the audition process as fun and supportive as possible, parents and friends are invited to watch auditions to support those auditioning. You may choose to watch as many groups of auditions that day as you would like. This can be a great learning experience. Even those who aren’t auditioning are encouraged to watch.

CALLBACKS

Please be on time for the time you are called. Callbacks are closed (no one can attend but the student called) and will be at Cascade Park Baptist Church.

*Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, no flip-flops or sandals, as dance auditions are part of callbacks.
*Bring a snack or dinner if you are called for the entire time.

If you are not called back it does not mean you are not cast in the show!

The final cast list for The Hobbit will be posted on this blog at 4:00 PM, Thursday, January 6th.
